A Discovery of Witches, Deborah Harkness. Kindle.
Entertaining, exciting, creative.
I almost referred to this book as a grown-up take on Twilight, but that simple comparison would do Harkness’ debut effort a disservice. A Discovery of Witches is a page turner for history buffs and fantasy fans alike, and Harkness creatively flexes both her novelist and historian muscles throughout. As the story-lines of the witch Diana and vampire Matthew came together, I couldn’t put it down (I even read this book while walking home from the subway, which I don’t recommend, for safety’s sake). I look forward to reading the next two installments!
