Born a Crime

Born a Crime, Trevor Noah. Kindle.

Humor and heart.

Born a Crime by Trevor Noah was the perfect traveling companion during a trip to Hawaii—I can’t recommend this one enough. Noah relates his experience growing up in immediately post-apartheid South Africa in a voice as authentic as it is humorous, and his combination of personal flashbacks and historical anecdotes kept me eagerly turning the page. A friend once described this book as a love letter to Noah’s mother and I couldn’t agree more. Do yourself a favor and read this beautiful book.

Favorite Quotation: “People love to say, ‘Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.’ What they don’t say is, ‘And it would be nice if you gave him a fishing rod.’ That’s the part of the analogy that’s missing.”
