The House at the Edge of Night

The House at the Edge of Night, Catherine Banner. Paperback.

Sprawling, engrossing, scenic.

The House at the Edge of Night is a beautifully written multi-generational story set on a remote Italian island. I fell in love with the family Banner creates and was invested in their lives. I took my time reading this one, and for me it was like a hot bath: I could get through my day without it, but it was a pleasure to sink into whenever I had the luxury of time.

Favorite Quotation: “Amedeo had resolved in Castellamare to be a different man, a man who had experiences of which photographs could be taken, a man who sipped chocolate on the terraces of elegant bars.”
